One of Doug‘s favorite sayings is “Life is lived better outdoors”. This pretty much sums up his life. He grew up just blocks from the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. Thus the ocean became a big part of his life. It was surfing and diving as a kid which later led him to travel the world in search of that elusive perfect wave with others. Or working as a PADI Divemaster from the Channel Islands along California’s coast to the Pacific islands and the Mexican Caribbean. The ocean and sharing it has been a big part of Doug’s life. As a matter of fact, it was through a couple of his surfing buddies that he was introduced to Skiing back in the 60s. This quickly became another outdoor love.
He has spent almost 50 years working in the ski industry first as an instructor and later in ski resort operations as a ski school director and the general manager of a Utah Ski resort. Spending time skiing with his guests is still one of his favorite activities. Whether hiking through the Sierra Nevada, Bobbing in the Pacific Ocean, or wandering through our incredible National Parks Sharing these outdoor experiences Mother Nature has granted us, with others is still, he says, one of the greatest privileges of his life!
Doug currently lives in southern Utah amongst the beautiful red rocks and his 9
beautiful grandchildren, sharing his love of the outdoors with them.
