Matthew Durrant

As a Leave No Trace Master Educator, he is a nationally recognized outdoor skills and ethics instructor with nearly twenty years of practice and teaching experience in this area. He has also served as a Camp Director for the Boy Scouts of America and is a prolific peak bagger and backpacker.

In addition to the outdoors, Matt is also a professional musician, holding a Ph.D. in music composition. During the school year, he teaches undergraduate music theory at the University of Utah and Humanities at Utah Valley University. His music draws inspiration from nature and geography and has been performed and published throughout the United States.

Additionally, he is an award-winning landscape photographer with features in Utah Life Magazine, Outdoor Idaho, and numerous outdoor-oriented websites and publications.

Our guide, Matthew Durrant, brought a whole new level to our experience. He won over our kids in the first 5 min when they saw he brought ALL their favorite road trip snacks. The time flew by in the car as he shared his extensive knowledge of the area, and stories to make the landscape come alive and we ended up collaborating on a soundtrack that complemented the changing landscapes. Matt expertly navigated us through the hikes (even escorted us on the challenging Angel's Landing). He took care of every detail so my husband and I could just enjoy the experience. We have been fortunate enough to travel to many places but this is by far my sons' (ages 18 and 15) favorite trip.
