Itinerary

Day 1: (Tuesday) Arrival Day to Houston, Texas

5:30pm Evening Welcome Event at Post

After arriving in Houston and checking into your hotel, join the group for a fun evening out on the town at Post. This mid-century historic US Post Office has been converted into a destination for food, drinks, and entertainment. The evening will include an introduction to your guide and driver, an overview of the itinerary and what to expect throughout the tour, and opportunities for you to meet your fellow tour participants. All of this with fantastic views of downtown Houston’s skyline. Dinner will be on your own with several options to choose from at Post.

Day 2: (Wednesday) Explore Houston, Texas

Houston Texas is the fourth most populated city in the United States with more than 2.3 million residents. This metropolis boasts one of the largest and most important seaports in the country and is the biggest beneficiary of the U.S. oil boom of the early twentieth century. Now, as a leader in healthcare, energy, aviation, and transportation, Houston is headquarters to more Fortune 500 companies than any other U.S. city other than New York City. We will explore the NASA Houston Space Center and the San Jacinto Museum and Battlefield before driving to San Antonio.

Day 3: (Thursday) Explore San Antonio

San Antonio is the oldest municipality in Texas being established in the early 1700s by Spanish missionaries and soldiers who began arriving in the late 1600s. As the seventh most populous city in the United States, San Antonio boasts a unique cultural identity with more than 60% of its population being Hispanic. San Antonio is home to one of only 25 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the country and is one of only 50 UNESCO Cities of Gastronomy in the world. We will visit the Alamo, Historic Market Square and Riverwalk this day

Day 4: (Friday) Hill Country

Texas Hill Country is the heart of the state where the stories of Spanish colonization, Texas independence, German and Czech pioneers, and the great American cowboy all intersect. Mix in the iconic Texas longhorn and thousands of acres of wildflowers in bloom every spring, and you see why one song boldly declares that “God blessed Texas.” We will explore Luckenbach, President Johnson NHP, and have an evening in Fredericksburg.

Day 5: (Saturday) Wildflowers & the Capitol

In the 1960s, Lady Bird Johnson (President LBJ’s wife) lobbied Congress to beautify America’s highways including in her home state of Texas. She succeeded not just with legislation but with a legacy of natural beautification and conservation. She once said, “For me, wildflowers are joy-giving. They have enriched my life and fed my soul and given beautiful memories to sustain me.” Millions of Texans would agree as they experience the wildflower blooms every year with bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, Indian blanket, verbena, phlox, primrose, and more cover hillsides, fields, and medians throughout the state. We will visit the Texas State Capitol Building and view the Bats at Congress Street Bridge.

Day 6: (Sunday) Cowboys & the Silos

Some highlights for today: The Silos at Magnolia Market, Chisolm Trail Suspension Bride, Ennis Bluebonnet Trail, Fort Worth Stockyards, and Billy Bob’s Honkytonk

Day 7: (Monday) Eclipse over Dallas

Get ready to experience a total solar eclipse. We will join the Eclipse Party at the Dallas Arboretum for this once in a lifetime event. Afterwards, we will explore downtown Dallas and see some of these sites:
▪ Dealey Plaza
▪ Thanksgiving Square
▪ Cattle Drive sculpture

Day 8: (Tuesday) Departure Day from Dallas
