Utah is quietly transforming itself into a destination for high-end culinary experiences. Nowadays, tourists come for the red rock adventures, but stay for the luxury treatment. There are now several culinary spots in Utah that can hold their own against the best of the US.

Utah offers luxury restaurants located deep in the desert, flawless service that assumes nothing, and rare wine cellars that will have you exclaiming.

In this guide, we’ve put together five of the best dining destinations in Utah.

The Dining Room at Amangiri

Amangiri is one of the centrepieces of luxury travel in Utah, and its restaurant is also in a league by itself. Amangiri prides itself on offering the best experience within human capacity, and The Dining Room is its last say.

The Dining Room is surrounded by 600 acres of desert. To bring home this fact, the restaurant is contained by glass walls in all directions. You can look out onto the massive mesas and the endless desert landscape, while you enjoy your carefully crafted meal.

The chefs at The Dining Room are primarily inspired by Southwestern and Native American cuisines. And they use ingredients like wild elk and heirloom corn. It’s not a surprise that The Dining Room is first on the list.

Yuta at The Lodge at Blue Sky

Yuta is situated in the midst of a 3,500-acre ranch along Alexander Creek.

The primary USPs of this restaurant are its farm-to-table philosophy paired with the geography of the area. Most of the produce that is used by the restaurant is grown in-house at Gracie’s Farm. It’s an organic regenerative farm that is located right on the property.

The Yuta is also surrounded by glass walls, which have been tastefully paired with genuine timber and stone fireplaces.

Some of the chef’s specials include heritage pork and wood-fired trout.

Table X (Salt Lake City)

Table X has been beautifully designed within a restored brick building. It has an open kitchen that sits alongside an urban garden. The chefs at Table X work closely with the local farmers and foragers to bring you the most seasonally appropriate food possible. They also grow some of their own produce, which ensures it’s organic and fresh.

Table X has rotating five-course and seven-course menus that vary according to the season. Another speciality of Table X is its house-made range of non-alcoholic beverages that can be paired with the food.

Riverhorse on Main (Park City)

Riverhorse on Main is probably the most decorated of all of Utah’s fine dining institutions. The restaurant has held the Forbes Four-Star award for more than two decades. If you’re in Park City, then this restaurant should be on your itinerary. It’s located on the upper floor of a historic building and features a covered balcony that looks out onto Main Street. You get live music every night, which pairs excellently with the overall vibe of the restaurant.

The menu includes local mountain game specialities, which include wild buffalo ribeye and macadamia-crusted halibut.

The Tree Room at Sundance Mountain Resort

The Tree Room within Sundance Mountain Resort is famous in its own right. It was founded in 1970, and features an actual living tree within the dining space. The restaurant is filled with the founder’s (Robert Redford) own private collection of Native American art.

The vibe of this restaurant is less like a restaurant, and more like a private alpine sanctuary. You can enjoy some of the choicest mountain game here. You can try the peppered elk loin served with huckleberry reduction or several other delicacies on the seasonal menu.
