The Cliffrose Lodge & Gardens has been a long story in the making. The 4-Diamond full-service hotel recently became one of the latest additions to Hilton’s Curio Collection, an exclusive series of quality hotels that dot the globe. But that didn’t happen overnight.

The story of the Cliffrose begins in the 80s, with the current owner, Breck Dockstader’s, father, a self-proclaimed “broke hippie” who grew up in St. George, Utah. After working in real estate for a time, he was able to strike a deal on the current property on a handshake. The original hotel was built with his bare hands, a stone’s throw from the entrance to Zion National Park and the Virgin River.

Today, the mature pine trees in the gardens are the result of the Dockstader family’s Christmas trees of years ago.

Breck took it upon himself to further realize his father’s vision for the property when he took over in 2010. After extensive renovations and additions, the Cliffrose was adopted into Hilton’s elite Curio Collection in December of 2019.

The Cliffrose is impressive in every detail. They’ve done well in providing for an easy, comfortable stay, and their exceptional service and luxurious amenities make it a memorable addition to any trip to Zion National Park.

Location

Imagine waking up and turning your head to see the sun shining on a beautiful array of colors displayed on Zion’s canyon walls.

This spectacular view doesn’t have to come from sleeping on the cold, rocky ground. It can be seen through the window of your room!

The Cliffrose Lodge offers its guests all the comforts of home while being immersed in the beauty of Zion.  The hotel, located at the gateway of Zion National Park, is known for its amazing location. The land sits in the mouth of the canyon and within walking distance of the national park.

Located on the main canyon side of Zion, guests can see the Virgin River flowing right through the property, flanked by a hand-curated garden. The original cottonwood and orchard trees still dot the property, giving a green contrast to the red canyon walls in the summer, and beautiful autumn colors in the fall.

Activities

The Cliffrose offers a unique & memorable venue for guest-exclusive activities!

Its vibrant gardens and prime river area provide a relaxing atmosphere for year-round shows and garden activities. Whether you prefer to relax with the family and watch a movie on the big screen, recharge with some Saturday morning yoga, enjoy a private acoustic guitar performance, or feel the excitement of watching the fire dancers, there is something going on in the gardens for you.

After an exciting day of touring Zion’s wonders with Utah Luxury Tours take a swim or have a relaxing dip in the hot tub. There are plenty of stories to tell, wildlife to watch, and even marshmallows to roast, my friend! The Cliffrose is well-equipped to please everyone.

“Lifers”

The Cliffrose, with its humorous beginning in the 1980s, attracted guests then that have stayed loyal to this day.

Breck Dockstader of Cliffrose unofficially calls these guests “Lifers,” meaning that they keep coming for life. This comes as no surprise due to the exemplary service and the state-of-the-art enhancements added constantly. These guests feel at home and have become accustomed to exceeding expectations.

Offseason All Year Experience

Zion is any adventurer’s choice in the spring and fall, but it shouldn’t be overlooked in the off-season.

The low travel volume and perfectly mild temperatures make for an amazing experience. “November is the perfect time to do Zion”, says Breck. Southern Utah treasures a late fall, the ideal time to book your next Utah Luxury Tour.

The service at the Cliffrose is unmatched year-round! But the off-season and winter months bring enough advantages to keep in mind.
